A Feng Shui Bedroom
To Your Relationship

Need a little romance? Decorating a feng shui bedroom can lead to just that.

First though you'll need to rid yourself of the clutter in the bedroom since that only indicates worry, and make room for a positive and harmonious flow of energy (chi) that is going to nourish your love life. Especially in the entrance to the bedroom because this is the area associated with opportunities.

Remove anything that could be mistaken for solitude, loneliness or conflict and avoid sharp angles and geometric shapes.

The bed is usually the most focal piece in the bedroom and in a feng shui bedroom placement of the bed becomes really important.

Position the bed on a solid wall. A window behind your bed gives a feeling of insecurity and possible drafts.

The bed should have a clear view of the door but not so you sleep with your feet facing the door. Energy will flow out the door and is also considered the "coffin position".

Have the bed easily approachable from both sides with the same distance, so both partners are equal in the relationship. If one of you has to climb over the other to get in or out harmony will not prevail.

Ideally the bed should be off the floor and the space under the bed free and not used for storage, giving the chi room to circulate and give you a restful sleep.

Be mindful of the air quality in the feng shui bedroom. Open the windows during the day to let the sun stream in with positive energy, but close the curtains at night for a darkened room, especially for us women. Sleeping in a light room can create a hormone imbalance.

Pink symbolizes love, as does red. Adding splashes of red ( or yellow) will reignite the passion in your relationship and also adds warmth but avoid too much of any overpowering or loud colors.

Instead for a feng shui bedroom, opt for soft and subdued colors of violets, blues, white, greens and grays are best toward making the bedroom soothing and restful.

Accents should be displayed in pairs and not depict anything you wouldn't want to see in your life. Nothing sad and lonely in this feng shui bedroom! (Like a lone figure walking on the beach.)

In fact it is better to avoid any water features, (not drinking water) as this will cause a loss of something, and avoid images of women. This crowds the relationship and can cause harm to both a husband and wife.

Add romantic touches of candles and flowers whether fresh or silk especially peonies (which represent fidelity and marriage), soft luxurious bedding and drapes at the windows, that can be closed at night. Keep the lighting soft and not harsh.

Round (representing completion) mirrors are an ideal option but don't hang your mirror directly across or above the bed. Hang to the side of the bed or in a position that reflects the optimal view and where you don't wake up to see your reflection.

Having a computer, television or any other electronic equipment emits energy that is not really desirable in the feng shui bedroom. This can lead to strain and tension in the relationship. If it is not possible to avoid and they need to be placed here, close them off in an armoire or behind a decorative screen.

This includes an electric blanket. Use the blanket to warm the bed if you want, but unplug it at the wall when you go to sleep.

If you have a bathroom in the master suite, close the door to it.
